Professional Qualifications
Hello, my name is Siobhán Kavanagh-Loakman and I am the founder and owner of Safe Kind Listening Counselling & Psychotherapy Service. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University London and PCI College, Dublin and I am registered as a Pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) which is a recognised professional body in Ireland. I also have a Masters in Professional Social Work from University College Dublin and an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care) from the Institute of Technology Carlow.

Extensive Experience
I have been working in human services for the past 14 years on internships, volunteering and through paid employment and I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations facing many challenges.. I have engaged equally with both adults and children throughout my working life, individually and through groupwork in medical, safeguarding and disability settings. My work experience and academic background equips me with the knowledge to understand various psychological theories and therapeutic techniques, all of which ensures that I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client, fostering a safe and supportive environment for exploration and healing.

Holistic Therapeutic Philosophy
During individual counselling with clients, I adopt a holistic approach that considers every aspect of your life, incorporating your emotional, mental, and physical well-being. . By exploring your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, in collaboration with you, I aim to help you to uncover the root causes of your distress, by first building a strong therapeutic alliance/relationship with you as the client. However, building a trusting relationship may take some time, but it will enables us to work collaboratively and effectively together to help you find your solutions to your issues whilst enhancing your overall well-being.
